Paul Eugene Cryan, 99 yrs., of Fairfield, CT, Madison, CT and Mohill, Co. Leitrim, Ireland, died January 20, 2022.
Paul was born Aug. 11, 1922 to Anna (O'Reilly) Cryan and John Philip Cryan and grew up in Lowell, MA. He was predeceased by his six brothers and two sisters.
During WWII, he was a sheet metal worker in the U.S. Navy. On Oct. 13, 1945, he married Pearl (Mott) Cryan. He was predeceased by Pearl, an infant Karen, and a grandson. He is survived by four children: Paul John (& Sue) Cryan, Gail DeVito, Pam (& Bob) Skelly, Sharon Cryan (& Jon Everett), eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He has dozens of nieces and nephews.
On Oct. 11, 1978, he married Loretta (McAuley, Buell) Cryan and acquired more nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by Loretta.
He retired from Sikorsky Aircraft as an aircraft designer in 1984. He obtained dual citizenship and moved to Ireland to be near Sarah (Prunty) Carleton. He acquired a ready-made family of 5 adult children, their spouses and 11 grandchildren. He rented a large home to encourage relatives and friends to visit.
Paul returned in 2017 to live with Pam's family in Madison, CT, where he attended St. Margaret's Church. He was an active member of prayer groups throughout his life and had many close friends.
The funeral Mass (with masks and social distancing) will take place Monday, January 24, 2022 at 11:00 am at Holy Family Church, 700 Old Stratfield Rd., Fairfield, CT 06825. Paul will be interred at Park Cemetery, 620 Lindey St., Bridgeport, CT 06606. There will be no wake or reception due to COVID. Please omit Flowers.
