Maria Emelia (Saraiva) Esteves

Maria Emelia Saraiva Esteves,  the beloved wife of the late Manuel Joaquim Esteves passed away on Saturday September 18, 2021 after a brave battle with COVID despite the heroic efforts of the staff at St. Vincent’s Hartford Healthcare.We would like to thank the doctors,nurses,techs and special housekeeper who stood side by side with me at my mother’s bedside and we wept in unison. She simply stated that she knew the pain of losing a mother. I too now know the pain. Maria was born on October 13, 1951 in Moncorvo Portugal to Antonio and Emelia Saraiva She is survived by her son Carlos Esteves and his wife Stephanie, of Goshen, CT and a daughter Paula Zwally and her husband George of Monroe, CT. She will be remembered for her devotion to her children and grandchildren; Kirsten  Maria Zwally, George Zwally, Kaiden Esteves and Ellie Esteves. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Our mother was the kindest person we ever met and she inherently bought out the kindness out of everyone she met. She was a  gentle soul and we are at peace in the knowing that she is reunited with her beloved husband. Friends are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday at 11:00 am at the Larson Funeral Home, 2496 North Ave, Bridgeport. Burial will be in St. Michael Cemetery in Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:00 am until 11:00 am.  Face masks are mandatory to attend the funeral. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you please get the vaccination.
