BRIDGEPORT - Lina Augusta Cavagnaro, age 96, beloved wife of the late Angelo O. Cavagnaro, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, January 21, 2021. Born in Cicagna, Province of Genoa, Italy, on October 30, 1924, to the late Agostino and Maria (Malatesta) Foppiano, Lina immigrated to the United States in 1958. After having her daughter, she became a homemaker and ran a cleaning and sewing business. A lifelong hard worker, Lina was known for her exceptional cooking and baking skills, most notably her pasta and cookies. She was also an avid gardener, and took great pride in the flowers that she planted, especially her zinnias and marigolds. In addition to her husband and parents, Lina was predeceased by her brother, Mario Foppiano. A loving mother and grandmother, Lina is survived by her daughter, Marie A. Henry, her husband Tom and her granddaughters, Alice and Stella, all of Bridgeport. The family would like to thank the St. Joseph’s Center staff as well as the staff of Compassus Hospice for the extraordinary care that they provided to Lina.
