On September 27, 2021 the Burgess family lost their Legend.
She was our pillar! Our rock. Our perfect example of unconditional love! Our prayer warrior. A woman of strength. A woman of faith. A woman of integrity and one of the classiest ladies you’d ever want to meet. She had an amazing sense of humor, and an infectious laugh. She cared about each individual detail of our lives and made each of us feel individually special.
She raised four children on a secretary salary after losing her husband in 1978. She devoted her life to her family; and went above and beyond to meet our every need. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her life; and she was ours!
In 1978 when Dorothy’s youngest lost her dad, she prayed that God would let her mom live forever! We were starting to believe that prayer was answered! We can imagine her first moments in Heaven; Being reunited with the love of her life. We're sure his first words were "What took you so long! Second words were most likely, " Geeish Dottie, you look like hell; What did those kids do to you?
She passed away peacefully with her daughter Sandy by her side, holding her hand. Sandy on the other hand was not so peaceful! For those who know Sandy, know, she doesn't handle stressful situations well. Yet, somehow, she was always first on the scene for every one of mom's medical emergencies over the years. How appropriate for her to be first on the scene for mom's last moments.
We are grateful for the life you lived before us. You were a true example of God's love! We know you are at peace. Reunited with your husband, walking on streets of gold; With a new perfect body, that will never age or become weak or die. A Memorial service for Dottie will be held on Monday October 4th at 7pm. At the New Life Church, 28 Hedgehog Rd. Trumbull,CT. All are welcome.
As you always said - We love you with all our hearts! Until we meet again!!
