At 96 years of age God decided it was the right time to call his servant, Christine Lucas Hunt Donnelly into the arms of his Endless Love on Monday morning, November 1, 2021. It was a Gentle, Peaceful swoop to Heaven.
The original "Church Lady", Christine was a faithful member, since birth, of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. She drove herself to Church services every week till the age of 93. As a Mom, she was a Sunday School Teacher, growing her family up in Faith at Salem Lutheran Church. Christine lived longer than her only son, Harry Doyle Hunt, Jr. who left her at 25. She also survived her second Husband, Art Donnelly. Christine did everything from bowling, modeling, taught dance at Arthur Murray Studios, to Belly dancing. She also exercised every day, was a volunteer at Wesley, a “Red Hat” member, and a lifetime member at Dorcas guild.
She was the youngest of seven children, daughter of Anna and Jon Lucas, a carpenter, who built her house on Klondike Street in Stratford. She often said that the Trumbull Senior Center was her lifeline. The family would like to thank Wesley Heights in Shelton, her final home. Her windows had an abundance of sunshine and fresh air. Also, thank all of her private caregivers; “it took a Village”, but she was so worth it!
Christine leaves behind an admiration team in her small, but BEAUTIFUL family. Daughter's Juanita Strickland (#1 son-in-law Arnold) of Shelton; daughter Kristine Hunt (Pete Aponte), of Charlotte, NC; and, daughter Justine Critchley (Ian) of Shelton, CT; Granddaughters, Dawn Strickland, of Laurinburg, NC;
Rebecca Muliumu (Siose); and, Katie Pivovar (Matt) of Shelton, CT; Skye Critchley, of Lake Wylie, SC; and, Holly Critchley of West Hartford, CT; and, five great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
The graveside services will be private at Mountain Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport.
