Angelina (Angie) Rose Schaivone
June 5, 1930-October 30, 2022
Angelina Rose (Morando) Schaivone, age 92, of Fairfield passed away at her home on October 30, 2022. She was the belovedwife of the late Augustine Francis Schaivone. Born and raised in Bridgeport, daughter of the late Ettore and Catherine (Segala) Morando, she was a Fairfield resident for 67 years.
Angie enjoyed being with people and was always quick to start a conversation and help family and friends. She followed an eclectic career path, working in many different positions in her community over the years. After graduating from Bassick High School in 1948, she started her career at Dictaphone, and over the years went on to work at Holland’s Department Store, the Fairfield school system, Mary Journey’s Inn, Grassy Hill Country Club and, most importantly, she served as Director of the Food Service and Child Care Division of MS Running Productions with her sister Sylvia Chateauneuf. She enjoyed supporting the runners and volunteering at road races directed by her son Marty Schaivone. She will be greatly missed at the food tables.
Angie enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra and firmly believed that Old Blue Eyes would have been a great President of the United States. And, while Sinatra was never a candidate for President, Angelina and her late husband Augustine (Augie, Pope) Schaivone volunteered as poll workers in Fairfield for many years.
Angie enjoyed visiting with her friends, even from their cars during the pandemic, at St. Mary’s by the Sea. She was particularly fond of frozen Snickers bars and a good glass of red wine. When visiting family, she could always be counted on to bring her famous spinach stuffed mushrooms. Angie most enjoyed spending time with her family and especially treasured time with her grandson, Andrew. Survivors include her loving children, Martin Schaivone and his wife Sherry Duff of Stratford and Kathryn Schaivone of Los Angeles, CA; her brother Lou Morando and his wife Ann Marie and her cherished great grandchildren Aurelia and Aspen all of St. Paul, MN; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law Sylvia and Leo Chateauneuf. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday November 12, 2022 at 10:00 am at St thomas Aquinas Parish church at 1719 Post Rd in Fairfield.
