Marilyn Reynold (Griffen) Lindmark

Lindmark- Marilyn Reynold Griffen Lindmark, age 89, 0f Guilford, beloved wife of the late Carl Gustav Lindmark, died Friday March 16, 2018 at the Yale New Haven Hospital. Mrs. Lindmark was born August 27, 1928 in White Plains, NY, daughter of the late Charles Reynold Griffen and Mary Ellen Sherwood Griffen. Marilyn grew up in Stratford, CT and later moved north to attend Junior College in Montpelier, VT, where she also worked for the Dean of Women. She then attended the University of Vermont where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a Bachelor of Arts with a major in English. She also worked for the Director of Libraries at UVM while studying there. Here she developed a love of the state of Vermont that lasted her entire life. Marilyn went on to work at Bridgeport Machines, as the Personal Director before leaving to work for her husbands business, Apex Sheet Metal. In later years she also worked for People's Savings Bank, Lehn & Fink and later on as an administrative Assistant in the Avionics Department at Sikorsky Aircraft. She enjoyed all of her jobs and the many wonderful people she worked with. Music was her love and she sang in various church choirs and coral groups, at times traveled throughout Europe putting on concerts with these groups. She was active in her college alumni committees, the Scandinavian Club of Fairfield and Phi Beta Kappa among others. Her grandchildren, family members and many dear friends were the light of Marilyn's life and "Gummy", as she became known by all, will be greatly missed by those whose lives she has touched. She is survived by her daughter Karen Lindmark Brown, and her husband Andy Verderame, grandsons; Jayson, Eric and Kevin Brown, brother Charles Griffen and his wife Prudence, niece Lisa Griffen and nephew Ned Griffen and a flock of extended family and dear, lifelong friends. Known as "Gummy" by many who knew her, she leaves behind a legacy of selflessness and abundant love. Friends are invited to attend her funeral on Tuesday March 20, 2018 at 11:00 am at the First Congregational Church,2301 Main St, Stratford, CT 06615. Burial will be in Mt. Grove Cemetery in Bridgeport.
