Carlson- Robert Carlson, beloved husband of the late Mary Dillon Carlson, died on December 26th, 2017 peacefully surrounded by family members. Bob "Beef" Carlson, was born in Bridgeport on December 6th, 1922. A resident of Fairfield, CT for the past 65 years, he retired from the U.S. Post office in Bridgeport after 33 years as a Mail Carrier, Clerk, Postal Service Representative, Assistant Postmaster, and Supervisor. Bob was a veteran of World War 2, serving with the 15th Air Force as a Technical Sargent, Radio Operator/Gunner on a B-24. He flew 46 missions over Europe and received the Air Medal and Oak Leaf Cluster. An avid golfer, Bob worked at the H. Smith Richardson Golf Course in Fairfield, after his retirement, for 18 years. He was a member of the Fairfield Seniors Golf Association, The American Legion Post 143, and the N.A.R.F.E. He is survived by two sons, Robert "Cob" Carlson of Hopkinton, MA John and his wife Caroline of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA, his two daughters, Mary Ann Snedeker and her husband Rodney of Asheville, N.C., and Margaret Carlson of Fairfield. Also 8 grandchildren, Timothy and Emily Snedeker, Mary and Monica Victor, Molly, Erin, Jack and Finnian Carlson. Also, sisters Betty Ashe of Harvard, MA, and Kate LeBreque of Swanton, Vermont, and many nieces and nephews. He was prerdeceased by his brother Donald of Ansonia, CT and sisters Helen Barbieri and Dorothy Evitts of Fairfield, and Anna Stevenson of Trumbull, CT. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at the Assumption Church in Fairfield on Thursday, December 28, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
