Charles Omer Bourgeois,93, of Fairfield, died peacefully at St. Vincent's Medical Center on Saturday, December 2, 2017. He was the loving husband of 70 years to Adrienne Bourgeois.
Charles was born on February 25, 1924 in Amqui, Quebec, Canada to David & Elise Bourgeois. He came to Connecticut from Montreal, Canada with his wife and son Olivier in 1950. He was a trained toolmaker and answered a help wanted ad from an American company which started his career in the United States.
Over the years, he worked for many of the local manufacturing plants including AVCO Lycoming, Sikorsky, and Bridgeport Machines, among many others. He retired from Schick Safety Razor in Milford CT.
Family and religion were very important to him. He belonged to Our Lady of the Assumption Church, where he volunteered his time for various church functions. He especially liked working at the September Festival. His favorite pastime was fixing items for the White Elephant Booth. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served as the Inside Guard at Council #11077.
In addition to his wife, Charles is survived by his son Olivier and wife Patricia of Bridgeport, son David and wife Heidi of Bridgeport.
He is also survived by three grandchildren; Kimberly (Antonio) Ferreira, David,(Cassie) Bourgeois and Alexandria Bourgeois, along with 4 great-grandchildren, Juliana, Antonio Jr, Dylan, Olivier Charles, and an additional great-grandson on the way.
He is also survived by his sister Therese Bernatchez of Mont-Louis, Quebec, Irene Mercer of Montreal, Quebec along with many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Adeodat Bourgeois, Leopold Bourgeois and a sister Marie Viens.
Family and friends are invited to meet at 10:00am Saturday Dec.9th at Larson's Funeral Home 2496 North Ave Bpt., CT with services following at 11:00am at Our Lady of the Assumption Church 545 Stratfield Rd. Fairfield, CT.
